Mutant Mass Review: How I Gained 30 Pounds of Muscle in 3 Months

Categories:

mutant mass review

As you all know, I used to work at a supplement store… I’ve tried everything from Mutant Mass to GNC whey protein, and I’ve seen it all.

The very first thing I learned is that most supplements are bullshit—you can market anything to a guy who’s desperate to build muscle.

Thankfully however, I’m not interested in bullshit marketing tactics, I’m interested in telling you the truth, and helping you get jacked.

Rich Piana’s Mutant Mass Weight Gainer is by far the best muscle-building, calorie-dense weight gaining powder that I’ve ever tried.

So, in this article I’d like to break down why I believe it’s superior to other weight-gaining products, and offer my full review. Let’s get to it.

Mutant Mass Review: Why I Used It

“So why are you qualified to talk about supplements?” Someone might ask. And hey, that’s a fair question, so I’ll tell you why.

I’ve spent literally thousands of dollars over the past decade trying out every supplement that I could get my hands on. Why?

Well, because I was a gym junkie. I wanted to go from skinny to buff as fast as possible, and bulking shakes seemed like the best way to do it.

Realizing that you could literally gain more respect from men and more attraction from women JUST by working out was massive. Not to mention the confidence and health increases, too.

So I pretty much became addicted to always trying the newest supplements promising to help me build muscle, from Nitraflex to GNC Whey Protein.

Most of the time they were bullshit, but sometimes they worked pretty well. Eventually, I even snagged a job at a supplement store called Max Muscle.

Why? It sure as fuck wasn’t for the pay, believe me. It paid minimum wage, and the hours were really weird, but I didn’t care.

I got a 40% discount on whey protein powders, and every time I would go into work they’d let me try out a new product that we got in…I was literally like a kid in a candy shop.

In a nutshell, the past decade of trying out hundreds of supplements and working at a supplement store taught me a ton about the industry, about scams, and about ingredients.

With this in mind, it’s my very firm opinion that Rich Piana’s Mutant Mass is one of the best supplements for scrawny guys trying to bulk up.

This was me for a while—I was 125 in high school so I can understand what it feels like to be scrawny. It fucking sucks.

Bulking Shakes vs. Solid Food

This is only like 700 calories

In order to get jacked, especially at a young age, you need to consume a huge amount of calories. Food should still be the primary source of your calories, but often times it’s extremely difficult to eat all of the food that you need.

I recall preparing for my Body of an Alpha photoshoot—I was eating around 5000 calories a day, and I realized very quickly that I couldn’t do this without the aid of some serious hardcore supplements. I literally couldn’t stomach the food that I needed to eat.

“Okay, so 2 cups of white rice with two tablespoons of butter, 6 ounces of chicken breast, a huge salad with avocados, olive oil, tomatoes, carrots, and apple slices…that’s only 1200 calories? Are you fucking serious?”

There’s no way that I could eat four meals like that a day! There’s just no way! And aside from doing a dirty bulk, I didn’t see much of an option.

I knew what I had to do—I wasn’t a rookie to the supplement world, so I very quickly started looking around for a high quality weight gainer.

I knew that the right weight gainer would be a HUGE help, because I could just have a frothy, delicious shake right after my workout and slam my body with a whopping 1300 calories right when it’s crying for nutrients the most.

But which mass gainer would I use? I’d already tried 5-6 that I didn’t like before, so I wanted to try something new. I wanted to find a weight gainer that tasted like a milkshake, but that had quality ingredients, and that would help me get jacked as fast as possible.

Eventually, after looking around and doing some research I stumbled upon Mutant Mass. The reviews were great, the ingredients were very high quality, and the company is owned by someone I trust (Rich Piana). So, I decided to give it a chance.

My Experience With Mutant Mass

I ordered the 15 pound bag, and due to Amazon Prime’s free 2 day shipping, it was here very quickly. I opened it up, put a couple scoops in my blender bottle, and headed off to the gym.

I chugged down my pre workout supplement, did my upper body strength day, and hit the sauna to get the growth hormone boosting benefits.

After I got home, my body was aching—my biceps burned, my triceps were dead, and my back could barely hold me up. I shuffled over to the locker room, whipped out my blender bottle, and filled it up with water.

As I took a sip of my Mutant Mass, I was literally astounded. “What the fuck? Is this a vanilla milkshake?”

I shit you not, it LITERALLY tasted like a vanilla milkshake. I would easily put Mutant Mass in the top 3 best tasting supplements that I’ve ever tried, and for mass gainers, this is rare…extremely rare.

Most mass gainers taste like thick, gloppy, artificial garbage—I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that Mutant Mass is not only very tolerable, but actually tastes really good!

Recovery in Record Time

One of the huge benefits of consuming Mutant Mass right after a workout is that, because it’s liquid form, your body will digest and assimilate it very quickly—within 30 minutes to be exact. Compare this to solid food, which takes around 2-3 hours to digest!

In fact, studies have even shown that consuming whey protein right after your workout can boost recovery and build muscle mass faster.

When you’ve just beaten up your body and torn apart your muscles from an intense workout, you can’t afford to wait another 2-3 hours…especially if you’re skinny!

Your body needs nutrients NOW, dammit! This is why I recommend that, as a bare minimum, you have some sort of whey protein after your workout.

But if you’re a skinny guy and you’re trying to take it to the next level, consider trying Mutant Mass. One serving of whey protein only has about 120 calories. Two servings has around 240 calories and 50 grams of protein.

But just one serving of Mutant Mass? It’s got 1060 calories, 52 grams of protein, 14 grams of fat, and a gigantic 182 grams of carbohydrates!

This is far superior to traditional whey protein if you’re struggling to put on muscle. It literally has 5x the calories, which is great for hardgainers.

As I discuss in my fitness eBook, carbohydrates are extremely important when it comes to both losing fat and gaining muscle. They have the most potential for manipulation due to their ability to increase insulin.

In other words, consuming Mutant Mass, which has 182 grams of carbohydrates, right after your workout, is a surefire way to immediately start the process of building your muscles back even stronger.

In addition to it’s huge dose of carbohydrates, it’s got 52 grams of protein, which is perfect. Your body can’t digest more than 50-60 grams of protein at a time, so nothing will go to waste. And the fat? it’s required to build muscle cell membranes, and it makes the shake taste damn good.

Mutant Mass Ingredients

As someone who worked at a supplement store and has tried hundreds of different supplements, I’m very well aware that a lot of companies use low quality fillers and ingredients.

In fact, I even exposed one of them, known as SARMs4You, and they threatened to sue me for it. Mutant Mass is different, though.

A lot of weight gainers have only like one type of cheap carbohydrate, usually produced from crappy GMO corn, and maybe one low quality type of whey protein. This is absolutely not ideal.

When it comes to a weight gainer, you want a blend of different ingredients. You want multiple types of protein in order to get your body all of the nutrients that it needs, and you want multiple types of carbohydrates so that your insulin doesn’t spike too fast.

Mutant Mass does just this. It’s got a complex blend of protein powder, ranging from various concentrates, to various isolates, to even casein (a slow digesting protein).

It’s also got multiple types of carbohydrates—waxy maize starch, maltodextrin, barley starch, and more. And the fat? It’s from high quality MCT oil powder and sunflower seed oil powder. How much better could you get?

Mutant Mass has an incredible lineup of ingredients; even its flavors are natural! Cocoa powder, cinnamon extract, and vanilla bean extract?

My god, do you know how much of a step up this is from typical protein powders? 95% of the time all they say is “Artificial Flavors.”

I don’t want my protein powder to be flavored with some disgusting chemical mixed up in vats in some laboratory over in Thailand—I want a fucking normal, natural, delicious set of ingredients!

Mutant Mass is by far the best tasting mass gainer I’ve ever tried, and it’s easily in the top 3 if we’re including all protein powder supplements. I tried the “Vanilla Ice Cream” flavor for reference, but everyone says that the Triple Chocolate and Strawberry Banana are phenomenal, too.

Overall, if you’re a guy who’s trying to bulk up and build some muscle, I seriously doubt that you can go wrong with Mutant Mass. I would not have been able to put on so much muscle in such a short period of time had I not used it.

Who Shouldn’t Use Mutant Mass?

Definitely not this guy

Basically anyone who’s trying to lose weight shouldn’t be using Mutant Mass. Mutant Mass is a mass gainer, so it’s meant to help you build muscle. It does this by giving you a ton of calories.

If you’re trying to lose weight, however, you actually need less calories, and taking in a shake with a whopping 1060 calories every day isn’t going to help you with this goal.

If you’re looking to burn fat, I recommend that you have a simple whey protein isolate after your workout—this will give your muscles the nutrients that it needs, while not overwhelming you with calories.

When you’re trying to lose weight your main concern should be having large amounts of high quality vegetables, healthy fats like olive oil and nuts, with some lean meats like grilled chicken breast, and maybe an occasional steak.

Also consider following the tips that I’ve given out on shredding fat fast as hell. Use tools like Intermittent Fasting, following a paleo diet, and even fat burners to accomplish your goal.

If you’re lactose intolerant then it’d be best to avoid whey protein altogether. Consider using a plant-based protein like pea protein or even goat whey, which doesn’t have that much lactose in it.

Who Should Use Mutant Mass?

In general, anyone who’s trying to build more muscle would benefit from using a mass gaining shake like Mutant Mass.

When you’re struggling to build more muscle, often times it isn’t even your fault—it’s just that you’re not getting enough calories.

While you should still be eating a healthy diet, Mutant Mass is a great, no-hassle way to get in a ton of high quality nutrients.

Just put some scoops in either your blender bottle, or a Nutribullet (I prefer this, to make it silky smooth), and enjoy.

Whether you’re a high school student with a sky-high metabolism, a college student whose dining hall hardly ever has anything good, or a grown man struggling to put on muscle, Mutant Mass is for you.

In fact, if it wasn’t for Mutant Mass, I highly doubt that I would’ve been able to put on as much muscle as I did for my photoshoot.

Waking up and force-feeding myself, force-feeding myself before the gym, then after the gym, then again before bed…it was agonizing!

But Mutant Mass made it easy for me. Sometimes I’d just wake up, and first thing in the morning have an ice-cold, vanilla ice cream shake of Mutant Mass. I’d mix it with two cups of whole milk to add an extra 300 calories.

Some days I’d have two shakes per day, especially if it was one of my “strength training” days that I discuss in Body of an Alpha. I’d wake up, and first thing in the morning pound down a frothing Vanilla Mutant Mass shake, and then do the same after my grueling workouts.

All in all, Mutant Mass is one of those rare supplements that not only tastes incredible, but also has a phenomenal lineup of all-star ingredients and a high quality set of nutrients that will prime your body for muscle building (and the price isn’t that bad, either).

If you’re a guy who’s struggling to put on muscle, I highly urge you to give Mutant Mass a shot. It’s an incredibly easy way to get an extra thousand or two calories in every day, and it’s portable too (just put it in a bottle and go).

Mutant Mass: The Bottom Line

mutant mass logo

All in all, if you’re trying to put on muscle, I seriously recommend that you use Mutant Mass right after your workouts. It’s chalk-full of high quality amino acids and nutrients, and it’s incredibly calorie-dense.

Consuming Mutant Mass right after your workout will jump-start the muscle-building process, ease your recovery, and help you get ripped in no time. I honestly wish that I knew about this stuff in high school, because it would’ve made my scrawny ass so much bigger.

Regardless, I know about it now—and I used it extensively for my Body of an Alpha photoshoot. I can personally attest to its effectiveness, because I honestly don’t believe I would be as big as I was had I not used Mutant Mass.

If you guys have any questions, comments, or concerns, let me know. I’m also open to hearing other supplement recommendations, too; I love trying out new supplements. I wish you all the best, and hope that you all get jacked as fuck. I’ll see you next time.
