You may have heard of something called phenibut lately—a drug that, once taken, produces a feeling of complete calm and tranquility.
In fact, many guys who are into picking up girls have started taking phenibut as a way to combat social anxiety and improve their game.
Today I’d like to offer my experience with this drug, and give a full phenibut review covering the dosage I take, how I take it, and what I stack it with.
So, if you’re interested in using bio-hacking to completely eliminate social anxiety and feel 100% confident in yourself, then keep on reading.
What is Phenibut?
Phenibut (beta-phenyl-GABA) is a synthetic drug invented by Russian scientists in the 1960’s, which acts on GABA receptors in the brain. [R]
It was initially invented by researchers who wanted to give a drug to astronauts, in case of an emergency—but they didn’t want the drug to be so sedating that the astronauts ended up crashing a $10 billion space ship.
Thus, phenibut was invented. A wonder drug (in my experience) that produces that anxiety-relief of Xanax, without the drowsiness and loss in motor coordination that often comes with it.
Over the past several years, many bio-hackers have started using phenibut for their own personal reasons (similar to how some people use ).
I’ve personally been using phenibut on and off for the past 2-3 years, so keep in mind that this is all from my own experience, not some BS read in a health journal that I’m regurgitating to you.
Overview of Phenibut
Before I do a deep dive on this supplement, I’d like to give a brief overview of the pros and cons of phenibut for readers and users who are skimming.
Pros of Phenibut:
- Powerful Anxiety Relief
- Great for Social Anxiety
- Extremely Long Lasting
- Few Side Effects (When Used Right)
Cons of Phenibut:
- Can Take A While to Kick In
- Can Only Take 1-2x Per Week
- Can Make Some Users Drowsy
Overall, I think that phenibut is a phenomenal supplement to help with approach anxiety, general social anxiety, and even increase productivity.
Where to Buy Phenibut
Again, if you’re just skimming and don’t want to read my full phenibut review and experience, I recommend buying it from Science bio.
Their whole catalog of products are all 3rd party tested for 99.9% purity or greater, and I’ve personally tried many of their supplements.
They sell phenibut, as well as SARMs, nootropics, and a ton of other stuff—so if you want to buy phenibut, definitely check their site out.
How Does Phenibut Work?
Now, let’s start going into detail here. How does phenibut work? How does it have powerful anxiety relieving effects without drowsiness?
The magic lies in phenibut’s ability to not only affect the brain’s GABA receptors, but also the dopamine and serotonin receptors, as well. [R]
By increasing GABA, serotonin, and dopamine levels in the brain, phenibut not only decreases anxiety, but drastically improves most users moods.
It’s also highly bio-available. Thanks to an added phenyl ring on the molecular structure, phenibut can easily cross the blood brain barrier. [R]
My Phenibut Review
Overall, phenibut is one of the best nootropics on the market right now, at least in my experience. Your brain may be different, so it may affect you slightly differently, but I’ve only had good experiences so far.
While it definitely takes a little while to kick in, the effects are very much worth the wait. Here’s typically the protocol that I follow when I use it:
- Take 1,000mg Phenibut (Empty Stomach)
- Consume 2-3 Cups of Coffee (30 Minutes Later)
- Wait At Least 2-3 Hours Before I Eat Anything
Phenibut generally takes at least 45 minutes to kick in, and often doesn’t reach its full effect for a whopping 3-4 hours. So I usually take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
I also stack it with coffee, because the caffeine is just a nice little added boost, so you get the energy of coffee combined with the anxiety relief effect of phenibut, for the best of both worlds.
What Does Phenibut Feel Like?
If you haven’t taken phenibut before, you probably want to know what it feels like—so I’ll do my best to explain it to you based on my experience.
After about 45 minutes, I typically notice a pleasant feeling of euphoria—as if things just bother me less, and I generally feel like everything is okay.
This effect increases in intensity over the next 1-2 hours, and for me it usually peaks around 3 hours and doesn’t subside for another 3-4 hours.
Phenibut makes pretty much everything easier. Talking to girls is easier, getting work done is easier, job interviews are easier, and even sleeping is far easier (phenibut sleep is incredibly deep).
The only time I DON’T take it is if I have to go to the gym or do something very physically intensive, in which case relaxation doesn’t really help.
Benefits of Phenibut
Over 300 studies have been conducted on phenibut to date, so a numerous amount of benefits have not only anecdotal evidence to back them up, but also ample clinical research.
The biggest benefit of phenibut (in my opinion) is its ability to reduce anxiety and make it easier to do things that would typically be hard.
Here’s some of the biggest phenibut benefits:
- Significant Anxiety Reduction [R]
- Improved Emotional Intelligence [R]
- Easier to Fall & Stay Asleep [R]
- Cognitive Enhancement [R]
- Help Combat Anxiety Attacks
- Increased Mood & Motivation [R]
- Reduce Symptoms of Depression
- …and more
In fact, phenibut’s benefits go far beyond just mood-boosting and anxiety reduction. Studies have shown that phenibut can even be used to treat a wide variety of ailments and diseases, such as:
An ample body of evidence continues to suggest that phenibut has a ton of medical applications, and my own personal experience and phenibut review confirms this—the stuff works, plain and simple.
Dosage & Cycle Guidelines
While phenibut is certainly a wonderful drug for anxiety reduction, you have to be EXTREMELY careful not to use it more than 1-2x per week.
I repeat—DO NOT use phenibut more than 1-2x per week, otherwise you may develop a very high tolerance quite rapidly.
I’ve read horror stories on Reddit of people taking phenibut every day for weeks, and then having hellish withdrawal symptoms, so I EMPLORE you not to be a total dumbass and take it every day.
Personally, I’ve never had any side effects or withdrawal symptoms from phenibut, and it’s all because I only take it 1-2x per week. Anything more than this and you put yourself at risk, so don’t do that.
With that in mind, let’s talk about how to properly dose your phenibut, what scale I like to use, what to stack it with, and how to cycle it.
Best Phenibut Dosage
Since the FDA has not approved phenibut for human consumption (yet, at least), there’s technically no medically approved dosage for this drug.
That being said, most users agree that starting off with around 500mg of phenibut on an empty stomach is a good place to start.
Here are the recommended phenibut dosages:
- Beginner: 500mg
- Intermediate: 1,000mg
- Advanced: 1,500mg
Of course, this will vary wildly depending on your own personal body weight, composition, genetics, and tolerance, so keep that in mind.
How to Take Phenibut
There’s multiple types of phenibut, both powder and liquid—if you want convenience, get the liquid. If you want a good deal, get the powder.
The phenibut powder is a little bit more difficult to measure, but it’s literally like 5% the cost of phenibut liquid, so I recommend it.
To start, simply buy phenibut powder from Science Bio, and pick up an accurate milligram scale from Amazon (I personally use this one).
Now simply put an empty glass on the scale, set it to zero, and put around 1/8th of a teaspoon in until you get to 500mg of phenibut.
Then, just fill it up with water, mix it around with a teaspoon, and drink. It will taste a little bit sour, but that’s normal—just chug it down.
Cycle Guidelines
It’s VERY important that you don’t take phenibut more than 1-2x per week (as I’ve stated several times before in this article). Anything more than this and you begin to risk developing a high tolerance.
Personally, I recommend you space your days out by at least 3 days, so if you take it on Monday, wait until Friday to take it next, or even longer.
There’s a lot of talk about crazy side effects, addiction, and withdrawal symptoms online, but this only happens if you’re a dumbass and overload on phenibut for days on end, for weeks in a row.
As long as you stick to these cycle guidelines (no more than 1-2x per week), you will be absolutely fine. I’ve done this for years myself and have almost no tolerance so far.
Phenibut Stacks
What does phenibut stack well with? It depends on what you want to accomplish. Different nootropics will do different things to your brain.
Generally speaking however, phenibut usually stacks well with stimulants, because it removes the anxiety/jitteriness that they often give users.
Here’s one of my favorite phenibut stacks:
- Phenibut (1,000 mg)
- Modafinil (100 mg)
- Caffeine (1-2 Cups of Coffee)
- Gorilla Mind Smooth (3-6 Capsules)
Just one day of this, and HOLY SHIT you will be wired. Be sure to start off SMALL though, with JUST phenibut to see how it affects you.
Then, once you’ve got some experience under your belt, you can consider exploring different nootropics stacks like this—but always be careful!
Potential Side Effects
As I said before, as long as you cycle phenibut properly and don’t exceed a reasonable dosage, it will be difficult for you to get any side effects.
That being said, due to biology, genetics, unique brain chemistry, or whatever reason, some people may experience some side effects.
Here’s some common side effects to watch out for on phenibut:
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Poor Balance
- Fatigue
- Decreased Appetite
- Muscle Aches
- Anxiety
Most people only experience these side effects if they take way too much phenibut, but one other notable side effect to be aware of is an EXTREME decrease in alcohol tolerance.
On phenibut, alcohol will be about 3x stronger, so be careful with this. It can be easier (and cheaper) to get drunk, but that’s a double edged sword.
Summary
In conclusion, phenibut is an awesome drug that can be used in a wide variety of situations. It’s phenomenal for anxiety reduction, though.
While it’s easy to develop a tolerance, when used just 1-2x per week (or less), it can be an extremely powerful aid in building a better life.
If you want to buy 99.9% pure phenibut, I recommend you go through Chemyo. You can also use the code “MD10” for 10% off everything.
As always, if you guys have any questions, comments, or concerns, let me know—I hope you enjoyed the article and I’ll see you next time!
did you get any “rebound” effects immediately after the drug wore off? increased irritability or anxiety for instance, maybe even lasting the next day
hey jon, can you check your emails please
Hi, Phenibut (phenyl) is now considered a drug where i’m from so it’s forbidden, yet baclofen (para-chlorophenyl) is not (for now) and is supposedly 30 times stronger with similar effects as it acts on GABA.
Do you have any feedback about it ?
I’ve noticed that Rat’s Army also has recently started selling phenibut in their usual dropper bottle as well (on the same week that they added piracetam, noopept and GW-0742) and was about to give it a whirl until I watched Derek’s (of Gorilla Mind) video about phenibut and got a little scared off both in his description of the side effects and the horror stories in the comments section under the vid. But as with anything, I guess moderation is the key.
Yep! They just started carrying it really recently (I haven’t tried it from them yet, though). Some people get crazy sides if they’re stupid and take it daily for like weeks, so just don’t do that lol. I’ve taken phenibut on and off (no more than 2x per week) at least two dozen times and no sides at all. You just have to do it smart and know what you’re doing.
